He received his medical degree from Indiana University Medical School in 1970 and completed his residency in plastic surgery at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine seven years later. He has owned and operated a private Indianapolis plastic surgery practice since 1977.

A gifted speaker, Dr. Zollman has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on the most in-demand topics in plastic surgery today, such as breast reconstruction, the surgical management of skin and bone infections, breast augmentation mammaplasty, and various issues in women's health. He is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

His artistic vision is not limited to cosmetic surgery. For his creation of the Zollman Center logo, Dr. Zollman won the Special Award for Design Excellence in the 1995 Most Beautiful Emblem Contest. He has been a charter life trustee for the Indianapolis Museum of Art since 1992.
